Caguas, Puerto Rico The Autonomous Municipality of Caguas, under the administration of its mayor William E. Miranda Torres, invites the public to the opening of the art and memorabilia exhibition in honor of the centennial of Felipe "La Voz" Rodríguez, "Voice and feeling of a people", to be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm., in the Gallery of the lobby of the first level of Bellas Artes de Caguas.
This exhibition commemorates the centennial of the birth of one of the favorite sons of the Creole city, Felipe Rodríguez, an emblematic figure of the Puerto Rican bolero, whose voice transcended generations to become a symbol of the collective feeling of a people.
Recognized for his interpretive elegance, his scenic character and his deep emotional connection with the audience, Felipe Rodríguez not only performed songs, but also placed his voice in favor of the experience of the Puerto Rican people, inside and outside the island.
His music accompanied homes, fleeces, stages and radio waves; it crossed borders into New York and other cities representative of the Puerto Rican diaspora, and became an emotional refuge in times of economic and social challenges. In each performance, he conveyed a certainty that still resonates in the collective memory, and that was that everything, somehow, was going to be okay.
The exhibition presents a curatorial proposal that integrates visual arts, historical memory and sensory experience. Through the works of contemporary Puerto Rican artists, a dialogue is established with the legacy of Felipe Rodríguez, exploring themes of identity, nostalgia, love, and belonging.
In addition to the artistic exhibition, the public will be able to appreciate historical material, memorabilia and an atmosphere that evokes the sound universe of the bolero, creating an immersive experience for the visitor. The visit to the exhibition is free of charge and will remain open to the public until Monday, May 11, during regular hours at Bellas Artes de Caguas, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. and during extended hours when there are events and shows.
The art and memorabilia exhibition has been coordinated and convened by Double W Productions LLC and its producer Luis Ángel "Wichy" Sánchez Soler.
