Caguas, Puerto Rico (October 3, 2025) – In a warm embrace of diversity, Bellas Artes de Caguas (BAC) inaugurated the exhibition “The Circle of Life” this Friday, featuring works by young people and adults from the ArteVivo collective of the Puerto Rican Down Syndrome Foundation.
The first-level gallery of the arts and cultural institution hosts a total of 86 circular-shaped works, representing the various cycles that emerge and transform throughout life according to each person’s experiences. Images of the sea, flowers, mermaids, boats, birds, faces, and many more bring this extensive exhibition to life, which, in addition to its creative value, stands as a testament to respect for inclusion.

“‘The Circle of Life’ is a grand, reflective title; it places us face to face with the ebb and flow of experiences, emotions, and changes that each cycle of our existence brings, and seeing it through the inspiration of these young people is even more moving and promising,” highlighted BAC Executive Director Ivonne Class during the inauguration.
Stephanie Ávila Berríos, Executive Director of the Puerto Rican Down Syndrome Foundation, for her part, urged the general public to recognize that, even amidst our differences, we are all part of the same cycle.
“At the Puerto Rican Down Syndrome Foundation, we firmly believe that art is a universal language capable of transcending any barrier. With ‘The Circle of Life,’ we celebrate not only the creativity of our participants but also the opportunity for society to see, in every stroke and every color, a message of inclusion and hope,” the executive stated. “We invite the community to join us, to be part of this circle, and to discover the transformative power of art when it comes from authenticity,” Ávila Berríos added.

About “The Circle of Life”
Life is a cycle in constant motion, a flow of experiences, emotions, and transformations that connect us with nature, time, and our very essence. In this exhibition, the artists of the collective “The Circle of Life” invite us to explore their interpretation of this journey, examining the birth, growth, evolution, and continuity of existence through art.
Each work has been created on a 14x14-inch round canvas, a medium that symbolizes wholeness, unity, and the interconnectedness of all stages of life. The circular shape has no beginning or end, just like the processes that define us as human beings. In these pieces, the artists express their personal visions, memories, dreams, and emotions, offering viewers a unique and authentic perspective on the meaning of life.
The exhibition will remain on display in the BAC gallery on the first floor until March 2026. Visitors can view it during the institution’s regular hours and on weekends, whenever there are events.
